What’s All This Rumpus about a Solo Dance Competition this Saturday?

You heard right, you hoofers and Ducky Shincrackers! Southside Stomp is throwing a Solo Jazz/Charleston competition at 10 pm during Saturday’s dance.

Here’s how it’ll work:

DJ Rob Moreland will play 3 songs – An all-skate warmup followed by a “tap out” during which judges Breanna Perry and Morgan Kestner will pare the field down to the finalists. For the final song, it’s your chance to “Style and Profile” in a solo spotlight with the crowd picking the winners.

Prizes are a pass to: Lindustrial Revolution (Charlottesville, Sept. 2-5), Jammin’ on the James (Richmond, Oct. 14-16) and Be My Jazz Baby (Norfolk, Jan. 20-22). 1st place means 1st pick, so dance your stompers off to make the crowd roar!

Many thanks to our generous sponsors.

We’re charging a $5 entrance fee for the contest, with proceeds going to the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia to help provide meals for hungry children.
